Reverse charge

How reverse-charge tax is calculated and shown but never collected, and how to show the reverse-charge line.

2 min readUpdated 26 October 2026About This Feature

On a reverse-charge supply, the recipient pays the tax. Hectile calculates and shows it — for example “IGST 18% (reverse charge)” — but never adds it to what the customer pays: the total, the balance, Pay Now, reminders and statements use the taxable value (plus any adjustment).

Reports keep reverse-charge tax apart and leave it out of the tax total.

To print “Tax payable on reverse charge: Yes/No” (India) or “Reverse charge: Applies/Not applicable” elsewhere, turn on the Reverse charge line in Settings›Features›Fields on documents.
