GST registrations and numbering

Add a GSTIN for each state, set each Brand’s default, keep your LUT, and use GST-valid number series.

  1. Add Registration — a GSTIN for another state, with its trade name and address.
  2. Next number — each registration has its own GST-valid series.
  3. LUT — your Letter of Undertaking’s ARN for this financial year, for exports and SEZ without IGST.

Several registrations

Turn on More than one GST registration in Settings›Features›GST. Then:

  • One active registration per state, all with your main registration’s PAN (one organization is one PAN).
  • Each Brand has a default registration; an invoice can choose another.
  • Hectile checks each GSTIN’s format, state code and check character. Whether it’s active on the portal is for you to confirm.
  • A registration with issued documents keeps its GSTIN — archive it and add the new one. Registrations are archived, never deleted.

GST-valid numbers

GST invoice numbers must be 16 characters or fewer, using letters, digits, - and /, unique in a financial year. An invoice under another registration takes that registration’s series, like:

DocumentExample
Tax invoiceBD27/26-27-0042
Bill of supplyBDB27/26-27-0003
Credit note · Debit noteBDC27/… · BDD27/…
Delivery challanBDH27/26-27-0006

Settings → GST lists every GST series with its next number and a check; Fix proposes a GST-valid format with the financial year.
