Deposits and part invoices

Invoice an estimate in parts — a deposit, milestones and the remaining amount — always adding up exactly.

  1. Progress — how much of the estimate is invoiced.
  2. A deposit or part — any percentage.
  3. The remaining amount — what’s left, rounding absorbed.
  1. Open the accepted estimate

    Create Invoice.

  2. Choose the share

The whole estimate (while nothing is invoiced), a deposit or part, or the remaining amount.

  3. Review the draft

Every line at that share, each with its own tax.

  4. Finalize and send

The estimate shows Partly Invoiced, then Converted at 100%.

Deposit due on acceptance

On the estimate, set a deposit — a percentage below 100% or a fixed amount. It shows on the estimate while it’s open. When the customer accepts on the link, the deposit invoice is drafted for your team (as the estimate’s maker) to check and send.

The rules that keep it right

Live invoices can’t take more than 100% of an estimate — checked on the server. Cancelling a part invoice gives its share back. The remaining invoice’s adjustment absorbs rounding, so the invoices add up to the estimate exactly.
