Debit notes

Add to an issued invoice — for a price rise, extra work, a tax correction or a late fee — with its own number and balance.

2 min readUpdated 26 October 2026About This Feature

A debit note adds to an invoice without reissuing it. It’s a document of its own — numbered DN-, with its own balance, reminders and Pay Now — and names the invoice it adds to.

  1. Open the issued invoice

    More → Create Debit Note.

  2. Choose the reason

Price increase agreed, extra work, tax correction, late fee or other.

  3. Fill in the draft

Same customer, Brand and currency; with GST, the same registration and place of supply.

  4. Finalize and send

The email names it a Debit Note and the invoice it adds to.

Debit notes work in every country. Turn them on in Settings›Features under Documents. Late fees are issued as debit notes automatically — see Late fees.
